4 Healthy “Shots” You Should Be Throwing Back This Time

What comes to mind when you think of shots? Those little cups filled to the brim with alcohol you throw back at the bar in order to have a good time, right? Well, what if I told you there were shots you could throw back that wouldn’t make you feel like absolute crap the next morning! Introducing, healthy “shots.” The shots you take to give yourself energy and make yourself feel like a million bucks — and you know what? These healthy “shots” can be fun, too.

Who needs tequila or whiskey when you can take one of these healthy (non-alcoholic) shots:

Ginger Shot


You feel the benefits of this ginger shot very quickly; especially if you’re experiencing nausea or inflammation. Ginger shots are great for your digestive system and for keeping your immune system on point. If you’re trying to lose weight, I recommend taking a shot of ginger in the morning so you can boost and stimulate your metabolism. 


  • 300 grams (10 1/2 oz.) of ginger

  • 1 sliced lemon

  • 3-4 lemons

  • 2 Tbsp of honey

  • 1 small tea bag


Juice the 3-4 lemons and set aside. Peel and slice the ginger into small pieces. Boil the ginger and sliced lemon in 1.5 liters (6 1/3 cups) of water for 30-45 minutes with the lid on. Turn off the heat and add the tea bag, the honey, and lemon juice. Leave to rest for 30 minutes before straining it to remove the sliced ginger and lemons. If stored in the fridge, the concoction should be good for a week.
