Meet the Woman Whose Signature is on 1000Naira Note- Priscilla Ekwere Eleje

Priscilla Ekwere Eleje has become the first woman in Nigeria’s history to have her signature of the Naira.

Eleje has just been confirmed as the Director of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), after she occupied the position of Acting Director of currency and operations at apex bank.

She is the first female director of currency in the history of the CBN, and the first female whose signature will appear on the naira.

Before now, Nigeria’s famous Potter, Ladi Kwali, was the only woman on the naira who took a spot at the back of the N20 note. But a recently printed 1000 Naira note was shared online and it shows the signature of Mrs Priscilla Ekwere Eleje.
