Oyo Assembly Passes Bill To Curb Incidents Of Collapse Buildings

The Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday passed the state’s agency of Physical arrangement and Development Authority Bill, 2018 into law.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bill was allocated to the House by Mr. Peter Oyetunji ( Ogo- Oluwa / Surulere) State Constituency.
The Speaker, Mr. Olagunju Ojo, said the Bill that had just been passed into law is fundamentally to address one of the basic needs of housing in its residential, private enterprise and industrial extent.
The new law is to systematize all processes complicated in building and physical planning, for a safe and quality environment.
“It supply for technical and professional participation in all processes of physical development, also makes providing for coordination of physical organization projects and programmes.
Under the new law, all the developers are to act in accordance with the statutory physical organization, development plans and authorize standards in the state,’’ Ojo explained.
He said the new quality will stem recent occurrence of collapse buildings in some parts of the state.
